About Asset Strategies International
ASI has operated out of Maryland since 1982. The company aims to help investors acquire alternative assets like foreign currencies, rare historic coins, and precious metals. Their mission is to help people hold onto their wealth by using innovative strategies.
The founders of the company are of the belief that you have to diversify your wealth across borders, investments, and currencies. Doing this helps to protect you against all kinds of economic turbulence. They consider these to be basic precautionary measures given the fragility of the global economy.
The company employs Preferred Client Relations specialists to work with clients, answer questions, and give advice about diversifying your assets all over the globe. Since none of these individuals is paid by commission, you don't need to worry about pushy sales tactics or ulterior motives.
The company's available products mostly fall into two broad categories: precious metals and numismatics.
The company has a variety of gold, silver, platinum, and palladium products available for purchase. You can use the direct online portal to purchase precious metals for yourself.
It's also possible to use the online platform of the Perth Mint to trade your precious metals with the security of government backing.
The numismatic coins are also divided into different categories on the website. You can browse the entire stock or look at 'spotlight coins,' which are coins that the company believes have a good chance of future growth and success.
There's an entire section for rare US coins. Not only can you look at the available coins in the inventory, you can also read about the different coins, look at a sample collector's portfolio, and read about the on-staff US coin expert who examines all of the company's acquisitions.
Another category is ancient coins. You can read about different ancient coins, then look at the featured ancient coins being sold or talked about on the website.
World and Ancient Coins Program
The World and Ancient Coins Program is how the company showcases global numismatic coins with collectible value. This program differs from the Spotlight Program because the Spotlight option only has rare US coins.
With this program, you get to learn about historical coins from all over the world. The company will also explain why they believe these numismatic rarities are likely to gain value in the future.
Numismatic collectibles are always a risky investment because of how deeply their value is tied to supply and demand. There isn't a guarantee that your coins will perform better in the future, and you might purchase them at a higher markup than typical bullion because of the collectible status.
Selling to the Company
You have the option to sell your items back to the company once you decide you're ready to liquidate them. The company will buy:
To get started, your first step will be to call the company and talk to a representative. You will need to give them details about the items that you're interested in selling, including the condition and any other special factors.
Based on this conversation, a company expert will evaluate the items. They will give you a price quote and also let you know whether or not they recommend selling.
The company says that once you're satisfied with the evaluation, you will receive the fair market price for the items. You can also talk to your customer service representative about other options.
Is Asset Strategies International a Scam?
Asset Strategies International does not appear to be a scam. There is clear information about who runs the company, and it's hard to find customer complaints online. But with that said, there are some absolutely scathing reviews of the workplace from ex-employees on Indeed. Those might speak to a toxic culture within.
Let's take a look at what the featured Indeed review had to say. This one was selected by Indeed for being the most informative and helpful.
This person said that there were absolutely no pros to working at the company. The management apparently didn't make any attempt to help them in the workplace. The employee said that the managers would routinely ignore input on how to improve the company's efficiency and revenue, but then would blame the sales reps when anything went wrong.
They concluded by adding that the company owners are sexist and don't believe women are capable of doing jobs that require higher thought. Now, there's no proof of that beyond hearsay, and it is a pretty serious accusation. But whether or not it's true, accusations like that indicate that there are issues under the surface in the workplace.
Having a potentially toxic workplace doesn't make a company a scam. But it does mean that you might interact with representatives who are stressed, overworked, and complying with policies they don't believe in. It's generally better to work with a company whose employees are happy.
Pros & Cons of Asset Strategies International
Asset Strategies International is a legitimate business. It is run by legitimate operators, has a headquarters, and provides the services it says it does. But being a legitimate business doesn't necessarily mean that you're a well-run business.
There are a couple of red flags when it comes to Asset Strategies International's overall operations. For one thing, most of the employee reviews on Indeed are overwhelmingly negative. Employees have reported being very unhappy with the managers, the owners, and the way the company is run.
It's also very difficult to find reliable customer reviews online. On the Better Business Bureau website, there are no complaints or reviews. And the company is not accredited or rated. The BBB lists businesses as 'Not Rated' when there's not enough information to rate them, or when there's a pending investigation by the bureau.
But the company does have an impressive number of products available. On top of bullion from sovereign mints all over the world, they have numismatic collectibles, rare historical coins, and even ancient coins. You can also sell your items to them.
With any precious metals company, you want to double check the price you're given before buying or selling anything. That way, you can make sure you're getting a good deal. Overall, we'd recommend working with a company that has a stronger customer reputation and better overall rapport with its employees.
Overall, we believe that there is a better option when it comes to your investment.
